Job description

The Visualization Design Lab at Graz University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated Predoctoral Researcher (PhD Student) at TU Graz. The student will be supervised by Prof. Alexander Lex. Candidates should have expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Design and execution of user studies addressing visualization research questions
  • Development and maintenance of visualization systems and supporting infrastructure
  • Accessibility in visualization (e.g., tactile visualizations, sonification)
  • Network visualization
  • Visualization provenance and reproducibility
  • Integration of computational and interactive data analysis approaches
  • Visualization of biological data
  • Conducting original research in the above areas
  • Publishing research results in leading international journals, conferences, and workshops
  • Supporting selected lectures and courses
  • Supervising Bachelor's theses aligned with your research

Requirements

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in software engineering and system development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstration of research experience, e.g., through published papers at venues such as IEEE VIS, ACM CHI, EuroVis, or IEEE TVCG
  • Prior teaching experience

Admission Requirements

Completed master's or diploma degree in Computer Science or equivalent fields of study with a focus on Data Visualization or Human-Computer Interaction.

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
