PHP/Kotlin Backend Engineer - Roaming

• Power the #1 CPMS & EV charging Platform: Build the robust, scalable infrastructure necessary to make Monta the undisputed global leader in Charge Point Management Systems.
• Scale the Roaming Network: Strengthen our existing roaming functionality. Your work will directly impact how seamlessly thousands of EV drivers connect to charging points across different networks.
• Innovate on Standards: Implement exciting new features including the latest OCPI versions and Plug & Charge capabilities.
• Turn vision into reality: Balance technical ambition with sleeves-rolled-up execution to ensure our fleet and roaming offerings remain best-in-class.

What You'll Do

• Own the full lifecycle: Scope out requirements and plan new features in collaboration with the team, taking code from ideation to production.
• Cross-team execution: Work closely with Ops, Product, Frontend and other Backend teams to navigate ambiguity and ensure features integrate seamlessly.
• Ensure quality at speed: Perform automated validation and verification testing while supporting your teammates with thoughtful code reviews.
• Monitor and Maintain: Utilize tools like Grafana and Loki to monitor system health, ensuring reliability for the drivers who depend on us.
• Own outcomes in a high-trust environment where we value execution over perfection.
• Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities - keeping momentum when it matters most.

Do you have experience in PHP?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Mid-level or above Backend Experience: You have solid experience building scalable backend systems.

• Our Tech Stack: You are proficient in Kotlin (Micronaut) and PHP (Laravel), or have strong experience in one with the ability to quickly master the other in a mixed environment.
• OCPI Expertise: You have experience working with OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface) and understand the complexities of the EV roaming ecosystem.
• Clear & pragmatic communicator who builds alignment fast.
• Authentic team player with empathy, openness, and ownership.
• Comfortable with AI-powered tools to accelerate your work (Claude, Gemini, Codex, etc.), with the willingness to learn more.

You'll be expected to work with AI-powered tools. Some we use:

• GitHub Copilot / Claude Code
• ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude
• Notion AI (docs, knowledge, meeting notes)
• AI-enhanced testing & monitoring (e.g., generative QA, Grafana ML)

We don't expect mastery of all - but we expect comfort learning, experimenting, and adopting AI responsibly
