SOA Architect - Brussels (Hybrid) Start Date: January Duration: 12 months (with option to extend) Location: Brussels - hybrid (minimum 2 days per week on site; additional days depending on team needs) Languages: Excellent communication in French or Dutch, plus English Candidate Rate: €650/day
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced SOA Architect to design, implement, and maintain service-oriented architectures and APIs for enterprise systems. The role involves hands-on technical development, system integration, and ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable web services.
The SOA Architect will collaborate with Agile teams, contribute to solution architecture, and ensure adherence to best practices and standards in enterprise integration.
Key Responsibilities Design and develop SOA and API solutions aligned with enterprise standards Implement SOAP and REST services, including WSDL, XML, JSON transformations, and security standards (OAuth2, JWT, WS-Security) Apply SOA design patterns and Enterprise Integration Patterns Work on microservices and loose coupling architectures Conduct service testing and support QA processes using SOAPUI, ReadyAPI, Postman, etc. Produce high-quality technical documentation and specifications Collaborate with Agile teams, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and provide technical guidance Contribute to enterprise architecture initiatives (TOGAF) and interoperability best practices Manage source code and versioning using GIT Support the full lifecycle of web applications: design * development * testing * deployment * release * support
Required Skills & Competencies Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Minimum 3 years in SOA Architect or similar role Strong development skills (Java or other programming languages) Solid understanding of SOA principles, API standards, REST, SOAP, WSDL, XML, JSON Experience with messaging models (publish-subscribe) Familiarity with UML, BPMN, Agile/Scrum, scripting, and ITIL processes Knowledge of enterprise integration tools (Oracle Service Bus, Axway, DataPower, WebLogic integrations) Hands-on experience with web service editors, XML editors, and testing tools Experience in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Hudson) and monitoring tools (ELK stack) Excellent technical writing and communication skills
