Linux Infrastructure Engineer

Mission

As an Infrastructure Engineer with a Linux orientation, you will be the backbone of our internal systems, focusing on open-source and automation-driven environments.

You will take ownership of Linux server infrastructure, automation frameworks, and modern virtualisation and networking solutions, while collaborating with our Managed Service Provider for hybrid and cloud environments.

Challenges we trust you with

1. Linux Ecosystem Management

• Administer and maintain multi-site Linux server environments (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS)
• Manage core network services (DNS, DHCP, NFS, Samba) in a Linux context.
• Oversee user and identity management using LDAP or compatible solutions.

2. Automation & Infrastructure as Code

• Design, implement, and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Ansible.
• Manage infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle with Terraform.
• Develop and maintain documentation for automated processes.

3. Virtualisation & Networking

• Deploy, manage, and optimise virtual environments using Proxmox VE.
• Implement and maintain secure networking solutions with Tailscale.
• Monitor and ensure high availability and performance of virtualised workloads.

4. Cloud & Hybrid Integration

• Collaborate on hybrid cloud deployments, integrating Linux systems with public cloud providers as needed.
• Support the transition and interoperability between on-premise and cloud environments.

5. Security & Compliance

• Ensure all Linux infrastructure components adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.
• Automate security patching and configuration management.

6. Collaboration & Support

• Act as a technical liaison for our Managed Service Provider regarding Linux and open-source environments.
• Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders.

What we value

Your technical Skills:

• Expert knowledge of Linux server environments and core network services.
• Strong experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
• Proficient in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with Proxmox VE for virtualisation.
• Familiarity with Tailscale for secure networking and remote access.
• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is a plus.

And you also are:

• Fluent in English (corporate language); knowledge of French or Dutch is a strong asset.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a global environment.
• Effective communicator, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage vendor relationships.
